Norman W. Long

Norman W. Long (b. 1973) is an artist, designer, and composer, born and raised in the South Side of Chicago. His current work focuses on sound-art production (using field recordings, electro-acoustic composition, and dub technique) within the larger context of landscape. Norman is a member of World Listening Project and Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology. His work has been featured at galleries in Chicago (IL), Ithaca (New York), London (UK), and Oakland and San Francisco (CA), including the Hyde Park Art Center, Kavi Gupta Gallery, Hungryman Gallery, Compound Yellow (formerly South Side Hub of Production), North Branch Projects, Harold Washington College, Chicago Artists Coalition Gallery’s BOLT Space, and the Chicago Humanities Festival. Norman has received 3Arts Award for Sound Art in 2012, Djerassi Artists Residency Fellowship 2014, and a BOLT Artist in Residence at the Chicago Artists Coalition.
