DESCRIPTION: Peter Joost, NYC Audubon Board member, and Eric Sanderson, Associate Director, Landscape Ecology, Wildlife Conservation Society, will co-lead a walk describing the pre-urban East Village with a focus on birds and their habitats, past and present. We will follow portions of the outline of Peter Stuyvesant's farm; discuss environmental changes that occurred between 1609 and the late 17th century as the result of Dutch colonial activity; look for any present day birds; and discuss historic and present day bird populations and their habitats
