EAR TO THE EARTH OPENING RECEPTION

Co-hosted by EMF and The New York Society for Acoustic Ecology, this opening reception introduces the themes of the festival. Our idea is to explore ways that we can better understand our natural world and human environments through sound. Our goal is to heighten our engagement in environmental issues.
The schedule for the evening:
7 p.m.: Refreshments and informal meetings with artists.
8 p.m.: Welcome and opening remarks by Joel Chadabe. Demonstrations of NYSoundmap by members of the NYSAE and a discussion by Andrea Polli and Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig, Senior Research Scientist at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, on sonifications of temperature projections for New York City.
9 p.m.: Performances of NYSoundmap Projects and a live remix of the Giant Ear))) archives by members of the NYSAE, among them Michelle Nagai, Edmund Mooney, Andrea Callard, Andrea Williams, Andrea Polli, Sha sha Feng, Ricardo Arias, and David Watson.
The event will be broadcast live online by free103point9 Online Radio.
