Cary Peppermint and Christine Nadir founded EcoArtTech in 2005 with the aim of working with digital, networked, and sustainable technologies and contemporary environments to create art about the environmentality of modern life. EcoArtTech work was recently included in shows at the Sonoma Art Museum (Santa Rosa, CA), Exit Art Gallery (NYC), the European Media Arts Festival, and the Massachusetts College of Art & Design. Cary is a conceptual and performance artist, whose series of network performances flows through www.restlessculture.net and is in the collections of the Walker Art Center, Rhizome.org at the New Museum for Contemporary Art, and The Whitney Museum of American Art. He is an assistant professor of art at Colgate University where he teaches courses in the theory and practice of digital art. Christine is a Lecturer at Colgate University and a doctoral candidate at Columbia University where she is completing her dissertation titled “All and Nothing: Paradoxes of Ethics and Sacrifice in Twentieth-Century Environmental Writing.” In February 2008, at Colgate, Cary and Christine curated and organized “Nature Version 2.0,” a conjoined exhibition and symposium of new media artists who reinvent environmentalism for the digital age.
